CASHEW MARKET REPORT

The cashew nuts market is very sluggish although some buyers have returned with purchasing plans for the second and third quarters.
Many sellers have not yet returned to the market after the Lunar New Year holiday or have stopped offering because of significant market volatility. These sellers are concerned about the raw material prices continue to increase due to unfavorable weather conditions. Furthermore, fuel prices have risen sharply in recent days, its has pushed prices of all goods up 10%–20% accordingly.
This morning, fuel prices were sharply reduced after three consecutive increases. Current prices are approximately 17% to 37% higher than at the end of February.
According to the General Department of Customs, the import-export statistics of Viet Nam in February as follows:
- The total amount of imported raw materials about 155,000 tons. Besides, about 7,000 tons of cashew nuts from Africa were imported into Vietnam.
- Vietnam exported about 24,200 tons of cashew nuts. Of which:
